The Galloping Goose is one of the most successful rails-to-trails projects in North America. The trail runs 60 kilometers from the community of Sooke to the City of Victoria, British Columbia, known as the cycling capital of Canada. The Galloping Goose is used by more than 150,000 cyclists, pedestrians and horseback riders every year. Proper lighting and safety signs are paramount as the trail covers such a vast area of the Saanich Peninsula.
This is Carmanah’s first R247C installation on the trail, which is installed at a busy crossing point near the downtown core. The beacon has increased trail safety by warning vehicles that they are crossing the Galloping Goose and to watch for pedestrians and cyclists.
Carmanah’s R247C solar LED flashing beacon is engineered for up to five years of maintenance-free operation, and will flash 24 hours per day 365 days per year. The system automatically adjusts to prevailing solar conditions to ensure continuous, dependable operation.
In addition to 24-hour flashers, Carmanah manufactures compact solar LED beacons for crosswalks and school zones, as well as LED illuminated street-name signs and regulatory signs. More than 250,000 installations worldwide attest to the reliability and operational benefits of Carmanah’s products.
