Carmanah has been contracted by the Department of National Defense – CFB Esquimalt, in British Columbia, Canada, to supply five units of its R820 Carmanah’s Wireless – Activated Solar Flashing Beacons and a Remote Wireless Transmitter to its Fire Station. These units will be installed on the road to warn drivers when emergency vehicles are leaving the fire station.

Carmanah’s solar-powered LED lights are a cost-effective and maintenance-free option compared to the traditional hard-wired signal systems for fire stations. In the case of CFB Esquimalt, Carmanah’s compact, completely self-contained, beacons will be wirelessly activated from a push button in the fire truck garage. The flashing beacons, located in five different approaches to the fire hall, will be set to flash for 60 seconds from initial activation. Due to the significant distance between the beacons on the road and the garage, the savings generated by Carmanah’s wireless, solar activation are substantial. Hard-wired systems can cost USD $50,000 to $65,000.
Carmanah’s roadway beacons combine solar power with efficient LED lighting and the Company’s proprietary MICROSOURCE™ Energy Management System (EMS). They are the most advanced beacon technology available in the world and will operate reliably in nearly all types of environmental conditions.
With more than 250,000 installations, Carmanah is a world leader in renewable and energy-efficient technology solutions.
